PC Hard disk acts as a virtual work space. It is very important because all your data is stored in the hard disk. It’s a critical situation when the HDD fails

Before buying a hard disk, consider certain factors which help you to choose a better and reliable hard disk.

1) In case you plan to buy an internal hard disk then check for  free slot in your PC cabinet.

2) Analyze the purpose of  getting a new hard disk. If it a primary hard disk, which will be used of installing OS and application, I suggest you can go for 160GB or 250GB hard disk from a reliable brand. Apart from primary hard disk, we can add one or two secondary hard disks of 320 GB or more for storing our data and backup.

3) The mode of connectivityor interface and RPM plays a vital role. Interface options are plenty.SATA is very common and widely used today. So before getting one, check your motherboard for compatibility. RPM decides the speed at which data can be accessed from your hard disk. 5400 rpm is considered as low end, 7200 rpm as mid end and 10,000 rpm as high end  for gamers

Note: Hard disk failure is a common issue. Think about a situation, when you lost data in your 1TB hard disk .Sure it’s horrible. Stay wise in getting a HDD and make sure your power supply is good to support all your hard disks.Power supply is the first culprit in burning your hard ware.Regular back up is the only solution

And try other techniques like getting external hard disk, setting up, RAID, NAS, .. to keep your data safe
